| Description: | Summary: The Communications and Online Advocacy Strategies Associate is the primary writer for BlogforChoice.com and will write a variety of other materials, such as weekly news roundups, website content, talking points, and press releases. The Communications and Online Advocacy Strategies Associate provides general and administrative support to the department, including maintaining our activist database. Responsibilities: ? Serve as a member of the department?s writing team, including blog posts for BlogforChoice.com, media releases, and other materials as needed. Serve as an organizational resource for and develop relationship with key pro-choice bloggers. ? Maintain the database of online activists, including entering new sign-ups; sending welcome messages; updating activists? contact information; adding source codes; removing members who unsubscribe; overseeing data entry; ensuring data-hygiene and business-rule procedures are followed; and tracking and responding to activists? questions. ? Assist national and affiliate staff with data needs, including database counts, lists, reports, and statistics. ? Monitor social-media mentions of NARAL Pro-Choice America through tools such as Radian6. ? Assist with maintenance of www.ProChoiceAmerica.org and microsites. Duties include writing and editing content, posting new pages, and answering website feedback form questions. ? Assist with media relations, including collecting and distributing daily press clips; answering the press phone line; drafting talking points; and maintaining media lists. ? Assist in department operations, including coordinating and implementing department bill-paying process; serving as liaison to outside vendors for printing, equipment repair, subscriptions, etc.; maintaining file systems; and scheduling meetings. ? Act as back-up for social-media outreach, including, but not limited to writing and posting online actions, news articles, and volunteer opportunities; tracking statistics and evaluating message performance; and making other relevant updates as needed. ? Hire, train, and manage interns. ? Other duties as assigned, including acting as back-up to receptionist on as-needed basis. Qualifications: ? College degree and two years office experience preferred. ? Excellent writing skills required. ? One to two years experience in online advocacy and communications preferred. ? Two years experience in Word and Excel for Windows, database software, and Internet preferred. ? Commitment to contributing to a workplace environment in which diversity is valued and supported. ?
