Job Title: Program Assistant - Education & Employment and General Cousel Support

Description: The National Women?s Law Center seeks a Program Assistant to provide program and administrative support to the Education and Employment program and the General Counsel. The Education and Employment program conducts multi-faceted advocacy to ensure that girls and women are treated equally in education and the workforce. The General Counsel undertakes cross-cutting legal projects engaging multiple issue areas and addresses the organization?s own legal needs.

The Organization
For 40 years, the National Women's Law Center has led the way in expanding the possibilities for women and girls in our country. The Center uses the law in all its forms: getting new laws on the books; litigating ground-breaking lawsuits all the way to the Supreme Court; and educating the public about how to make the law and public policies work for women and their families. The Center's experienced staff takes on the issues that cut to the core of women's and girls' lives in education, employment, health and reproductive rights, and family economic security, with special priority given to the needs of low-income women and their families.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Program Assistant is an integral member of the Education and Employment team. The Program Assistant also provides support to the General Counsel related to organization operations and cross-cutting legal projects. The candidate will be responsible for creating/editing correspondence and other documents; drafting blog posts for our Center-wide blog; helping to expand the Center?s field network; assembling and analyzing data; preparing reports; preparing documents for distribution; arranging travel and assisting with conference and meeting preparation; responding to routine inquiries and requests for information; maintaining files and databases; helping with web-based and other research; and other program and administrative support.

Qualifications
Candidate should have a college degree or at least two years? college and two years work-related experience. Strong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, are required. Should also have strong office skills including attention to detail, proofreading, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize and complete work independently. Must be a self-starter with flexibility, good judgment and the ability to handle multiple, concurrent tasks in an effective manner with a commitment to the work of the Center.
