The Development Department of the National office in New York City is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Planned Gifts Coordinator. OVERVIEW The Planned Gifts Coordinator will provide support to a rapidly growing Gift Planning Department and will report directly to the Deputy Director of Gift Planning. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate tasks and projects for the Associate Directors within the Gift Planning Department. Track individual donor activities; maintain and update donors' gift records on development database maintain donors' electronic and paper files. Compose, edit and proofread donor communications under the direction of the Deputy Director of Gift Planning and Associate Directors for Gift Planning. Generate life income gift illustrations from planned gift software. Conduct research on donors and prospects as necessary to provide support for meetings with individual donors. Produce and monitor reports including but not limited prospect tracking reports, contact reports. Manage the calendar for Associate Directors for Gift Planning and assist in coordinating visits with donors and prospects. Serve as first point of contact within Gift Planning Department. Manage incoming phone calls, mail and e-mail. Undertake special projects within the Development Department. Handle other duties as needed. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree preferred and/or a minimum of two years experience, preferably in fundraising or nonprofit setting. Familiarity with planned gift vehicles preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the organization to donors as well as interface with all levels of staff at the national office, in the affiliates and with volunteers while maintaining tact, diplomacy and confidentiality. Self-starter with strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and complete assignments under strict deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office, i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Internet usage. Experience with fundraising databases and Business Objects preferred. Interest in tax, financial and estate planning issues. Commitment to the mission of the ACLU.
