The Communications Department of the ACLU?s National Office in New York City seeks a full-time Digital Media Graphic Designer.

OVERVIEW

The Digital Media Graphic Designer is a creative individual, skilled at implementing digital media design projects from conceptualization through production in support of Communications. The Digital Media Graphic Designer will work under the supervision of the Director of Internet Communications.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Produce design solutions for digital products to effectively convey issue principles and messaging on our websites, social media channels, email and beyond.
Create new concepts, mockups, wireframes and visual and interactive designs based on internal requirements and creative briefs.
Collaborate with Internet Communications team to establish visual and interactive standards related to site presentation, and ensure that designs fit the technical specifications of the site for a quality end-user experience.
Collaborate with Internet Communications team and Senior Communications Strategists to produce website graphic design and digital media promotions such as infographics, interactives, email templates and affiliate advertising and cross promotions.
Create brand design and logos for various initiatives and programs.
Manage national ACLU brand identity and keep brand guide up to date.
Design and typeset publications, including ACLU project annual reports, issue reports, bi-annual newsletter, brochures, pamphlets, etc.
Input edits and accommodate revisions throughout editing process of designed materials Create promotional materials, including web and print ads, T-shirts for giveaways, pocket cards, invitation sets, etc.
Secure and oversee photo permissions and licenses where necessary and warehouse photos; until a data asset system is set up; asset planning of data asset management.
Handle preflight publications for press.
Coordinate with outside vendors such as copyeditors, printers and digital media agencies Manage projects through production process. Working with Communications Coordinator and Assistant, schedule all stages of production, price quotes, proof checks, coordinate shipping and storage.
Coordinate fulfillment of materials including digital media graphic promotions to affiliates and other sources where applicable.
Work closely with Director of Internet Communications on special projects as they relate to supporting organization and program goals.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor?s degree required.
A minimum of 3 years of combined experience in digital media, interactive media design and communications graphic design required.
In depth working knowledge of digital media and interactive design and print graphic design. Final Cut experience a plus.
Macintosh platform technical expertise.
Proficient in HTML, Dreamweaver, Quark, the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash) and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Thorough knowledge in pre-production and pre-flight areas, including color handling and scanning.
Experience working with vendors; ability to work independently as well as within a team.
Ability to multitask, prioritize and complete tasks under deadline in a busy work environment.
Excellent ability to contribute to conceptual and visual development of design directions based on understanding of key issues and target audiences.
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Interest in civil liberties and civil rights highly desirable.
