Job Title: Communications Intern (unpaid)

Description: The National Women's Law Center (NWLC) seeks an energetic, detail-oriented intern with an interest in media and public policy to provide support to NWLC’s Communications department. The intern will work closely with Communications staff to research a broad range of core issues that range from health care and reproductive rights to discrimination at school and in the workplace.

The Organization
The National Women's Law Center is a non-profit organization that has been working since 1972 to advance and protect women's legal rights. The Center focuses on major policy areas of importance to women and their families including economic security, education, employment, health, and reproductive rights, with special attention given to the concerns of low-income women.

Intern Duties and Responsibilities
The Communications Intern supports the Communications department with a variety of media assignments, including research on a broad range of signature issues of the Center. The NWLC office is a lively environment with many opportunities to learn and make professional connections. NWLC offers monthly brown-bag lunches on a variety of timely topics and encourages interns to make the most of their time with the organization.

Qualifications
Applicants should have an interest in media and public policy, strong writing skills and an eye for detail. The Communications Intern should be available for Fall 2012, but start and end dates are flexible. Full time interns work 37.5 hours per week, while part time interns should be able to commit 20 hours per week. NWLC will work with students and their universities to provide college credit for the internship.
