NEA seeks an Associate Director of Digital Engagement in its Center for Communications. The Associate Director serves as a member of the NEA?s senior management team, provides strategic counsel to the Senior Director, and plays an integral role in the development and administration of the Center?s programs and initiatives. The Associate Director will lead the Association?s efforts in developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to build and expand the Association?s presence online in social media, web-based and multi-media advocacy efforts. Required Skills Qualifications: -Bachelor?s degree required, preferably in communications, journalism, information systems, or related field; -Relevant graduate degree and/or certification preferred; -A minimum of seven years NEA state association or equivalent experience required, with at least one year of management-level experience required; -Proven experience successfully managing individuals, teams, projects, budgets, and strategies; -Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-impact, high-profile projects/task forces at once, and under compressed timelines; - Ability to think strategically, analytically, and technically about content. -Possess excellent organizational skills (ability to adapt, maintain flexibility, and learn quickly). -Possess understanding of Content Management Systems; -Knowledge of search marketing terms and key words, and a strong command on Search Engine Optimization; -Knowledge and understanding of web and video production processes as well as promotional concepts, artistic design and effective layout, web page presentation design, and production. -Ability to measure content performance in quantitative as well as qualitative forms, and apply key learning to the next project. -Frequent travel required. Required Experience Responsibilities: -Designs and executes comprehensive pro-active, measurable, digital engagement strategies that incorporate websites, new media, social media, texting, e-mail and multimedia to effectively promote the Association, its policies, members and initiatives; -Crafts multi-phased online activism campaigns engineered to grow the Association?s activist universe and engage existing activists into more active and responsive activists; -Converts NEA policies and ideas into campaigns that enable members and other activists to reach out to lawmakers, third-party validators, corporations, and policymakers to influence the public debate; -Develops digital marketing strategy, detailed plans and content that facilitates advocacy journalism, membership growth and grassroots mobilization; -Executes a social media strategy: take ownership of all Association website(s) and social media channels ensuring that they are current and consistent with the Association brand and seeding content into social applications as needed; -Maintains a solid understanding of the marketing potential of social platforms including: Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Tumbler, YouTube and others; -Oversees the design, production, programming, and maintenance of all Association interfaces including matters relating to its Content Management System (CMS); -Manages data for websites and micro sites and develops digital content publications with interactive components, including but not limited to, video, slide shows, quizzes, surveys and fillable forms; -Leads staff and cross-departmental teams to develop campaign graphics for email marketing and online advertisements (web banners and tiles ? interactive and still); -Remains abreast of digital technologies (smart phones - SMS, tablets, desktop, etc.) and trends to recommend best practices and to determine which may be applicable; -Collaborates with in-house video production team or contractors to shoot and digitize raw footage, edit and add text, graphic, music, and voice effects, producing DVD, Mini-DVD or web-ready content; -Collaborates with in-house graphic design team to maximize info-graphics and other still images and make both still and video images viral; -Monitors effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of digital media programs, and analyze, review and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results; -Builds and manages metrics and reporting. Analyze and translate quantitative and qualitative data. -Develops an actionable engagement plan for continuous improvement; -Tracks and analyzes key lead generation metrics to report on campaign effectiveness and ROI -Performs additional duties as requested, needed or assigned. -Assists in creating an effective, high-performing, collaborative team among the department staff; -Helps oversee the department?s budget, staff development and performance, and departmental operations. |
