| Description: | The National Women's Law Center (NWLC) seeks an energetic, detail-oriented intern to provide support to NWLC?s Outreach team. The Organization Since 1972, the National Women's Law Center has been working to advance and protect women's legal rights. The Center focuses on major policy areas of importance to women and their families including economic security, education, employment, health, and reproductive rights, with special attention given to the concerns of low-income women. Intern Duties and Responsibilities The Outreach Intern supports the Outreach team with a variety of outreach projects and activities, including conference planning, advocacy communications and webinars/online events. S/he drafts blog posts for Womenstake.org and supports blog marketing efforts. The Outreach Intern also conducts project research using the web and traditional sources. S/he helps develop several databases and lists of state, local, and national advocates and related organizations. The Outreach Intern also responds to advocacy-related departmental initiatives and assists with general outreach efforts. The NWLC office is an extremely friendly environment with many opportunities to learn and make professional connections. NWLC offers monthly brown-bag lunches on a variety of timely topics and encourages interns to make the most of their time with the organization. Qualifications Ideal candidates should have some college coursework and experience in an office environment. S/he must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with MS Word is required and experience with Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and e-CRMs, such as Convio, is highly desirable. The intern must be detail oriented and a self starter. S/he must have the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and complete assignments by specified deadlines with speed and accuracy. S/he must have a commitment to progressive women?s issues. The Outreach Intern should be available for Fall Semester 2012. NWLC is looking for a part-time commitment (20 hours/week minimum), with flexible start and end dates. NWLC internships are unpaid; NWLC will work with students and their universities to provide college credit for the internship.
