| Description: | What We Offer The Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL) Development Department works to raise contributed revenue in support of the mission and services for PPIL. As a statewide organization with 17 health centers, the Development Department uses many strategies to engage donors and raise revenue, including direct mail, foundations, planned giving, and special events. Special events are responsible for raising significant revenue to reach overall fundraising goals, and are held in different areas throughout the state, including Chicago, Champaign, Springfield and Peoria. The Special Events Intern will work with the Director of Outreach and Engagement, and will organize, summarize and analyze event archives of previous special events. Information will be summarized along key progress indicators and significant details, which will in turn be analyzed in order to highlight trends in fundraising and event logistics and concepts. The intern will gain a significant knowledge of past events at PPIL, as well as how historic information is used to make vital fundraising decisions for the future. Additionally, the Special Events Intern will use this information to provide significant support in organizing and staging a number of small events, as well as assisting in concept development and leadership-building for two larger events that will take place in 2013. Tasks such as scouting locations, organizing meetings, and tracking volunteer commitments will be assigned. The intern will gain substantial experience in planning and executing small and large non-profit fundraising events. Internship Highlights: - Help maintain and update database of donors and event history - Learn how special events integrates with all development activities - Work with staff to gain valuable non-profit fundraising experience What We Ask: - Interest and/or experience with fundraising and/or special events - Superior organizational and communication skills - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team - Willingness to help where needed - Commitment of at least 15 hours a week through the fall semester Location PPIL Administrative Office 18 South Michigan Ave, 6th Floor Chicago, IL 60603 Hours Shifts available Monday through Friday, 9 am - 5 pm. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required |
