Job Title: Outreach Intern

Description: Alliance for Justice (www.afj.org) is seeking
Spring 2013 undergraduate interns in our Outreach
department. Interns must be able to work a minimum
of ten hours per week.

Alliance for Justice (AFJ) is a national
association of environmental, civil rights, mental
health, women's, children's, and consumer advocacy
organizations. Since its inception in 1979, AFJ
has worked to advance the cause of justice for all
Americans, strengthen the public interest
community's ability to influence public policy,
and foster the next generation of advocates.

Outreach interns gain substantive coalition
building and grassroots organizing experience
working on a wide range of projects. Interns will
help maintain AFJ's student and activist networks,
draft advocacy and organizing materials, assist in
the coordination, advertising, and staffing of
outreach events, and provide support to Outreach
staff in the form of administrative and research
tasks as needed. At AFJ we make an effort to give
interns the opportunity to develop their
particular skills and interests during the course
of the semester.

Position requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication
skills
- Campus or community outreach/organizing
experience highly preferred
- Proficiency with online search tools
(Google, Lexis-Nexis)
- Experience with Microsoft office suite
(Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Experience using web 2.0/social media
networking tools in a professional setting a plus
- Knowledge of HTML, web/graphic design,
and/or Convio a plus, but not required
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice,
civil rights, and public interest issues essential
