| Description: | The Cancer Prevention and Treatment Fund in Washington, D.C. is seeking a part-time or full- time intern/volunteer to be this year's 5K Race/Fun Run Coordinator. This would be an unpaid internship initially but could turn into a paid part-time position through September 2013. The Race Coordinator internship is suitable for someone familiar with the DC area, who is outgoing, with great communication skills, and has previous fundraising and event planning or coordination experience. The internship offers a chance to support a great cause while gaining marketable skills and valuable work experience with quantifiable results, such as number of racers, the amount raised, number of websites and social media sites publicizing the race, etc. The unpaid internship comes with a public transportation subsidy to commute to our Farragut Square office in DC. Preference is given to applicants who can start in Feb or early March. Duties include: getting sponsors; publicizing the event through websites and social media; and enlisting volunteers for the day of the race. The Cancer Prevention and Treatment Fund has been selected as one of America's best charities and is the major program of the National Research Center for Women & Families.
