Judith Meuli Remembered

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 19, 2008 in honor of Judith Meuli, co-founding board member of the Feminist Majority Foundation. Meuli dedicated 40 years of her life to the struggle for women�s equality. She co-founded the Los Angeles chapter of the National Organization for Women in 1967, served on the National Board of NOW in the 1970�s and was a co-editor of NOW Acts 1970-73 and the National NOW Times, 1977-1985.

Judith MeuliFor the past 20 years, she was an active member of the Feminist Majority Foundation Board. Meuli contributed in numerous ways to the feminist movement: as a creative designer of feminist buttons, medallions, and "The Brassy" (the women�s symbol with the equality sign across the circle); as a co-author of the Feminist Chronicles and numerous publications; as an editor and as a dedicated activist. As she fought multiple myeloma, Meuli devotedly organized her archive of feminist papers for Harvard/Radcliffe's Schlesinger Library. She leaves behind that historical treasure, the famous Brassy symbol she designed, a partner who adored her, and an indelible impression on all the rest of us who knew and loved her.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 am at the Feminist Majority Foundation�s center at 433 S. Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills, CA.
