Gender Wage Gap for Recent College Grads

Recent women college graduates made, on average, $2.92 less than their male counterparts in 2007. According to the Economic Policy Institute, recent women graduates made an average of $18.17 per hour, compared to the $21.09 per hour on average paid to recent male college graduates.

The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which would correct the recent Supreme Court decision that gutted wage discrimination protections for women workers, passed in the House of Representatives last summer. It stalled in the Senate last month as a result of a Republican filibuster. Senate Democrats have vowed to bring the measure up again.
