Boston University's Women's Resource Center Opens Doors

Boston University's Women's Resource Center opened Saturday with a ribbon cutting ceremony and remarks from members of the University community. According to the Daily Free Press, a student newspaper, it has taken more than thirty years for the Center to acquire its own space on campus.

In a press release, the center's mission is described as seeking to "increase awareness of women's and gender related issues and inspire student action around such issues." The student-run center has a lending library and informational materials on issues that include sexual assault and eating disorders. It also plans to sponsor lecture series, workshops, and book clubs. In addition, two therapists will hold office hours in the space.

According to the Daily Free Press, at the opening ceremony, Center Co-Director Carrie Chiusano said, "the issues we discuss primarily affect women, but do not solely affect womenit's important that men come and join in the discussion."
