Field Organizer - Charlotte, NC
Greenpeace is the world's leading corporate campaigning organization. Spanning close to 50 countries, we?ve brought down, overhauled, and reformed countless corporate targets. When it comes to the energy and climate crisis, coal is public enemy #1 in the US. We?re building out our campaign in North Carolina now to take on Duke Energy, the biggest coal-burning utility in the nation, on their hometurf. We are making it clear to Duke Energy that continuing to put profits over people will come at a huge cost - to their bottom- line and their prized political reputation.

Are you a tenacious strategist, primed to organize against the biggest corporate polluters and dirtiest coal plants in the country? Are you prepared to jump in and support Greenpeace campaigns to save our oceans and forests and protect communities from toxic pollution and the risks of nuclear energy? Do you want to build power working alongside communities in the increasingly pivotal American South? Are you ready to start NOW?

Purpose of the Position:
To prevent Duke from fully recovering the cost of their dirty energy investment and to reduce Duke's credibility and influence. Currently, we are working to accomplish this by gearing up to oppose upcoming rate hikes as well as other aspects of Duke's business plan.

Blocking Duke's rate hikes on the 99%
The market impact in the energy industry of a company as large as Duke making a real transition from coal to renewables is difficult to overstate.
Across our campaign, we?re creating and exploiting several of the utility?s vulnerabilities to force this transition. In North Carolina, Duke?s coal operation relies heavily on their ability to raise rates on residential customers - working families in North Carolina?s shrinking middle class. We?re organizing Duke customers to say ?NO? to rate hikes for dirty energy and exposing Duke?s greenwash.
