Job Title: Exciting Summer Opportunity With Women's Non-Profit
Organization: Sadie Nash Leadership Project

Description: Faculty teach the coursework component of the Summer Institute, a rigorous program that enables high school aged youth to develop ideas, questions, and concerns as they explore leadership, social justice and activism. We are interested in courses that connect with our mission and also connect with the identities of the young people in SNLP. We are seeking faculty to teach one of three core courses: Leadership Seminar, PIP: Power, Identity & Privilege, LAP:
Leadership Action Project (only in Newark, NJ).

Each CORE faculty member will:

- attend 6-10 mandatory hours of intensive professional development training on June 25th and July 2nd 2013
- teach one course, four times a week for 6 weeks from July 8th-August 16th (each class period is
1.5 hours). Core curriculum exists for these classes, but the faculty member will be required to develop and facilitate additional units and to modify and adapt existing units as required.
- be available to students for at least 1 hour per week outside of class (total time per week: 8-10 hours)
- receive $2,800 for the six weeks of teaching
- submit short written evaluations of students and conclude their course with a project or final presentation at our end of summer celebration

We are looking for faculty members who:
- can teach with an understanding of our philosophy and goals, and actively support our mission
- are committed to respecting young people as experts on their own lives
- set high expectations for the students
- are fun, interesting, intellectual, engaging and creative
- utilize interactive and innovative, activities and teaching strategies that address different learning styles
- ask the students to examine their world critically and through the eyes of a leader
- can relate to, and build with, young women from New York City and Newark, New Jersey

If you are interested in serving as a core Faculty member in the Summer Institute, we ask that you submit

3. a summary of a session you would lead for the
course(s) you are interested in teaching Your one session proposal should focus on a historical or contemporary case study illustrating the concepts of the class. It could highlight a leader, a movement, a contemporary news story, a film, etc... that addresses any of the concepts the class is trying to address. It should include:
- THEMES: What themes are you trying to address in this session? (Examples could be:
intersectionality, or pitfalls of traditional leadership, etc...)
- Agenda: Include a detailed agenda with the activities, discussion questions, materials, etc...
- Outcomes: The outcomes you hope to achieve after this session. We are looking for tangible outcomes such as: The knowledge, skills, or attitudes you hope to impact the deadline for faculty applications is Monday, March 4, 2013.
