Top Women in Law Enforcement and Leading Reformer Advocates Meet to Tackle Police Brutality, Family Violence and Gender Balance

The 6th annual National Center for Women & Policing (NCWP) conference: Redesigning Law Enforcement. The conference, co-sponsored by Women in Federal Law Enforcement, WIFLE, is expected to attract more than 900 top women in law enforcement.

*Wednesday, April 4 the NCWP will release its Status of Women in Policing survey report for 2000.

The current and worsening crises of police corruption and excessive force scandals nationwide provide an unprecedented opportunity to examine the significant positive impact greater numbers of women make on the culture, operations and efficacy of law enforcement.

The conference curriculum will emphasize leadership training, the imperative for women law enforcement officers to work to increase the number of women in policing at all ranks, and critical law enforcement issues such as domestic violence, sexual assault and police family violence
