The Feminist Majority announces a new website and online campaign to protect abortion rights in the U.S.: www.Million4Roe.com. The possible retirement of two Supreme Court Justices this summer could allow anti-abortion President George W. Bush to pack the court with anti-abortion Justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that legalized abortion in all 50 states. Million4Roe.com will work to prevent the return to the days of back-alley abortions when thousands of women needlessly died. Million4Roe will gather a million petitions directed at Senate leadership, urging them to lead a filibuster against any Supreme Court nominee who refuses to support Roe v. Wade. Users can win prizes by joining a celebrity team online and signing up friends, the first two of which are led by United Farm Workers co-founder Dolores Huerta and television “X-Files” star Gillian Anderson.
