Taliban Allows Parents & Diplomats to See Detained Aid Workers

In the latest development in the Taliban’s arrest of international humanitarian workers for allegedly “promoting Christianity,” two American parents and diplomats from Australia, Germany, and the United States were finally granted permission to visit the eight detained workers. Though the eight foreign prisoners from Shelter Now International (SNI) were reported to be in good condition, both physically and emotionally, the situation of detained Afghan workers is yet unclear.

The Taliban has announced that all the prisoners, including the eight international workers, may be subject to the death penalty. While many believe that the foreigners will eventually be released and expelled from Afghanistan, the Afghan prisoners are expected to be subjected to severe sentences, possibly death.
