A 14-year-old British student has threatened to sue her school if they refuse to allow her to wear pants. The Wickam Comprehensive School in Gateshead currently requires female students to wear skirts, and Britain’s governtment-funded Equal Opportunities Commission recently said it will represent in court if necessary — student Jo Hale in her battle to be allowed to wear trousers.
Commission spokeswoman Hilary Slater said, “We want to clarify the code on sexual discrimination. By not being given the option to wear trousers at school, girls are being discriminated against.”
