The group SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY FMLA declared November, Gender Wage Gap Awareness Month, and held their second Pay Equity Bake sale to demonstrate the average wage gap experienced by women in 2001 in California. SFSU FMLA Leader Lora Kihorany recently wrote on the event for an article for the San Francisco Bay Area Independent Media Center, a non-commercial, democratic collective of local independent media makers/outlets, and a local chapter of the global Indymedia network.
The GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance recently brought dozens of students together to rally against rape through their annual Take Back the Night event. The evening brought activists, students, and community members together for a march, candlelight vigil, and open-microphone session with speeches and personal testimony from survivors.
