At least 35 reproductive health clinics in eight states nationwide as well as several women’s rights and reproductive rights organizations, including the Feminist Majority Foundation, Center for Reproductive Law and Policy, and the Alan Guttmacher Institute, received suspicious Federal Express packages today. The few clinics that opened the packages found a white powder and threatening letters. The return address on the packages read “Cynthia Waters Spaulding, National Abortion Federation, Washington, DC” or “Ann Glazier, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, New York, NY.” Clinics and reproductive rights advocates nationwide should be on alert.
The Feminist Majority Foundation urges clinics not to open suspicious mail and to call 911 as well as the local Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) office if they receive the Federal Express package.
