Anti-choice Leaders Sue Over Mifepristone Ads

Abortion-rights opponents from the United Republican Fund of Illinois and the Institute for Human Rights have filed suit in Chicago against the National Abortion Federation for its advertisements about Mifepristone. In July, the National Abortion Federation ran ads in Self , People and several other magazines publicizing the FDA’s approval of Mifepristone and providing resources for more information. The ads can be viewed online at the NAF . The suit is being filed under the Illinois Deceptive Trade Practices Act, and the anti-choice forces are arguing that NAF violated this law by not describing the minimal side effects of Mifepristone in its ads. NAF Executive Director Vicki Saporta explains that “These are anti-choice activists. The suit is wholely devoid of merit. Our advertising campaign is entirely proper.”
