Antiabortion Politicians Fail in Plan to Ban RU486

Antiabortion lawmakers failed in their attempt to attach an amendment preventing the FDA from approving mifepristone (RU486) or other abortifacients. The Fiscal Year 2000 Agriculture Appropriations bill has passed both the House and the Senate, and is not expected to be vetoed by President Clinton.
