The Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP) has become the official managing organization of the national emergency contraception hotline (1-888-NOT-2-LATE). Originally begun in 1996 by the Reproductive Health Technologies Project (RHTP) and Princeton University, the hotline provides women with the contact information of health care providers who dispense emergency contraception (EC) in their area. “The EC hotline is an anonymous and private way for women to get the information they need to prevent unintended pregnancy,” said James Trussell, ARHP board member and Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University.
In addition to the toll free number, women may access information and referrals from the hotline website, www.NOT-2-LATE.com. The website also includes educational materials that can be downloaded as well as additional EC resources.
TAKE ACTION! The Feminist Majority Foundation has launched a nationwide Prescribe Choice campaign to increase availability of EC and mifepristone on college campuses. See how you can get involved, log on to www.PrescribeChoice.com.
