Arizona Boasts First All-Women Line of Political Succession

On Monday, Arizona became the first state to boast an all-female line of political succession.

Governor Jane Hull, Secretary of State Betsey Bayless, Attorney General Janet Napolitano, Treasurer Carol Springer, and Superintendent of Public Instruction Lisa Graham Keegan were sworn into their positions Monday.

Center for the American Woman in Politics statistics show that Arizona currently has 36% women in its state legislature this year, and has been a national leader in electing women legislators for some time.
