Authorities Strengthen Search for Eric Rudolph

Federal agents have announced plans to step up the search for bombing suspect Eric Robert Rudolph, charged with three bombings in the Atlanta area and one in Birmingham. Two abortion clinics, one gay bar, and the Olympic Park were all bombed, allegedy by Rudolph.

Rudolph has eluded capture for almost a year, and authorities believe he has been hiding in an underground hideaway or cave in the mountains of North Carolina. A $1 million award has been offered for information leading to his arrest.

Officials have the search force will soon grow to over 200 to reinvigorate the search, which will continue well into the holiday season. “With the leads they’re getting and all of the things they’ve come up with, it reinforces to me that we’re on the right track,” said U.S. Attorney Doug Jones.
