Bahrain recently announced the appointment of the country’s first female ambassador. Sheika Hayya bin Rashid Al Khalifa, a prominent feminist and lawyer, will take her place as BahrainÕs ambassador to France in January, 2000. Al Khalifa, who is a member of BahrainÕs ruling family, said she is looking forward to her starting her new job in Paris.
