O’Reilly Factor host Bill O’Reilly has come under renewed fire for remarks about George Tiller, MD since Tiller’s murder Sunday. O’Reilly and other hosts have mentioned Tiller on air 29 times since 2005 and frequently referred to him as “Tiller the Baby Killer,” reported Salon. O’Reilly also reportedly sent a producer to Tiller’s Wichita, Kansas home, who proceeded to call Tiller a “baby killer,” prompting the doctor to call 911.
According to the New York Times, O’Reilly responded to criticism: “every single thing we said about Tiller was true, and my analysis was based on those facts.”
In 2006, Dr. Tiller’s clinic and a Planned Parenthood in Overland Park, Kansas asked the State Supreme Court to investigate O’Reilly because of comments he made on his show that indicated he had accessed some of their medical records, according to the Associated Press. During his show, O’Reilly claimed that he had acquired information from the records of patients who underwent abortion procedures, and that many of those abortions were illegal.
