Bin Laden Denies Responsibility for Embassy Bombings

Osama bin Laden, the notorious global terrorist suspected of masterminding last August’s bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, has denied responsibility for those terrorist attacks, but admitted to “instigating” others to carry out his holy war.

TIME magazine quoted bin Laden as saying, “If the instigation for jihad (holy war)… is a considered a crime, then let history be a witness that I am a criminal.”

In an interview published in the Arabic newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, bin Laden also was quoted as saying that it is “the duty of Muslims to confront, fight, and kill” Americans, Britons, and all other allies of Jews and Christians.
