The Brandeis FMLA fundraised $10,000 through grant writing, direct mail, and events like concerts, movie screenings, and comedy nights. They used their funds to subsidize 3 buses, bringing the ticket price down from $70 to $15.
After putting the tickets on sale in early February, the group sold out all three buses in a span of only 16 hours-one student even camped outside the office all night to ensure she got a ticket. They now have a waiting list of students who want to go and are organizing carpools with other progressive organizations to send as many more students as possible. Great work!
