Bush Judicial Nominees Going Backwards in Diversity

Not only are President George W Bush’s nominees to the federal bench driving the court backwards on civil rights and women’s rights issues ideologically but an examination of his judicial nominations by race and class reveals that significantly fewer women and African Americans are being named. In fact, the percentage of African Americans named by Bush has declined by a whopping 11.9% as compared to President Clinton’s nominations’from 16.4% under Clinton to a paltry 7.5% under George W. Bush. President Carter was appointing African Americans to the bench in the 1970’s at nearly twice the rate as George W. Bush (14.3%). Presidents Reagan and Bush I also had pitiful records in judicial nominations; only 1.7% and 6.8% of their nominations were African Americans. funny pictures funny images funny photos funny animal pictures funny dog pictures funny cat pictures funny gifs Women’s nomination rates are also going backwards.
