Catholic Bishops Revive Effort to Overturn Abortion Rights

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (UCCB) released its second revision of the Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities, first adopted in 1975, only two years after the Supreme Court legalized abortion in Roe v. Wade. Called the “Campaign in Support of Life,” the revision reiterates the bishops’ anti-abortion stance and widens the scope of the original plan to include opposition to the death penalty, euthanasia, and human embryo research. The UCCB was optimistic about its push to end abortion rights for American women, citing the success of state laws in restricting access to abortion. The bishops also encouraged Catholics nationwide to lobby for the repeal of Roe v. Wade. “We’re always optimistic, and we’re unrelenting no matter who’s occupying the White House,” said Bishop Robert Lynch of St. Petersburg, Florida. Roman Catholic bishops gathered in Washington, DC this week to attend four days of UCCB meetings.

Wade. Join our campaign and tell Washington, “We won’t go back!” Log on to www.Million4Roe.com.
