State officials in Florida have okayed production of “Choose Life” license plates just one day after delaying the plate. The Florida National Organization for Women filed a lawsuit against the plate and the attorney general halted production, predicting that the design would be defeated in court.
Supporters of the plate, which portrays a crayon sketch of two children, say that its pro-adoption rather than pro-choice. The $22 proceeds are intended for groups that help women put their babies up for adoption.
NOW and other critics of the anti-choice license plate have pointed out that “Choose Life” is a political slogan for the anti-choice movement and is dangerous in a state where doctors who provide abortions have been murdered.
