Clinton Nomination Approved by Senate Foreign Relations Committee

Senator Hillary Clinton’s nomination for Secretary of State was approved yesterday by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in a 16 to 1 vote. Next week, the full Senate is expected to formally nominate and confirm her appointment, according to Reuters.

In her farewell remarks to the Senate (see video) yesterday Clinton said: “I am gratified by the support and vote of confidence I received earlier this morning from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. I am eager, should I be confirmed, to get to work with the President-elect and with the Vice President-elect and with all of you….I remain an optimist that America’s best days are still ahead of us.”
