Congresswomen Claim Discrimination in House Gym

A Congressional Wellness Center Committee will investigate the claims of Congresswomen that they are being discriminated against in the House gym. Led by Rep. Anne Northup (R-KY), congresswomen report being discouraged from exercising in the gym and charge that the gym is not accessible to women. Since business is sometimes conducted in the gym, Congresswomen say that they are being left out of behind-the-scenes deals. The committee was charged with the responsibility to investigate the claims of discrimination, report its findings within 60 days, and provide recommendations for remedying any discrimination.
