Connie Chung to Leave ABC News

ABC News President David Westin announced yesterday that news legend Connie Chung would be leaving the network and would possibly join CNN to host her own prime-time show. CNN would not confirm whether or not Chung would be moving to CNN, but the cable network will be holding a press conference with Chung today.

Chung, the first Asian-American newswoman to have mainstream popularity, has covered hard-hitting women’s issues in the news since the 1970s and has won three Emmy Awards, the Amnesty International Media Spotlight Award, and many others for her efforts. Chung has reported on honor killings in Bangladesh, a woman’s right to safe, legal abortion, violence against women, as well as domestic and global politics during her long career as an anchor woman and news correspondent with all three major broadcast networks: CBS, NBC, and ABC.
