Kansas abortion provider Dr George Tiller’s attorneys filed papers Monday that seek to dismiss the criminal charges against him by the Kansas Attorney General. Dr. Tiller is one of the few late-term abortion providers in the US that serves women with troubled pregnancies and complicated health problems.
According to the Kansas City Star, the current allegations against Tiller were established when former Attorney General Phil Kline, “…directed the powers of his office toward one goal: ending Dr. Tiller’s lawful medical practice,” beginning in 2003. Dr. Tiller allegedly violated a 1998 state law on post-viability abortions and has 19 misdemeanor charges against him, reports the Daily Women’s Health Policy Report.
