First Anniversary of Younger Women’s Task Force Celebrated

Last week marked the first anniversary of the Younger Women’s Task Force (YWTF), a grassroots organization dedicated to activating younger women around important issues in their lives. Since its founding in 2005 as a project of the National Council for Women’s Organizations, YWTF has grown to include eleven chapters with over 2,000 members in 30 states.

Some of its projects include the Real Hot 100, which highlights the accomplishments of young women in contrast with the “hot 100” lists of men’s magazines that focus only on young women’s appearances. In Miami, a chapter is organizing discussions of women’s reproductive health, and the Washington, DC chapter is focusing on issues of safe public transportation.
