First Lady Urges Women to Support Female Candidates

First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton endorsed a letter sent by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee urging women to give money in support of women candidates. Clinton said, “The fact is that unless each of us makes a sincere commitment to support women candidates, the issues and concerns important to our Democratic, pro-family agenda will go unheralded in this year’s campaign.”

Clinton also cautioned that unless more women are in office, issues including education, reproductive rights and the environment will not be given adequate attention. She said, “As long as the House remains under Republican control our priorities will be under attack.”

The letter will be sent to approximately 500,000 female activists across the U.S early next month.
