Florence Henderson is City of Hope’s ‘Woman of the Year’

City of Hope’s Women’s Council of Orange County will honor actress Florence Henderson as “Woman of the Year” at its second annual “The Spirit of Life” dinner on November 21.

Henderson, a long-time supporter and spokesperson for City of Hope, was chosen for many reasons. Her dedication to helping a friend through her struggles with breast cancer, taking her to the hospital, and holding her hand up until the end was one reason. The fact that she has been a well-respected actress for three decades is another reason. Henderson is most famous for her role as Carol Brady on the television series The Brady Bunch.

Executive women community leaders from various industries established the Women’s Council of Orange County in 1997. Their goal is to gain support for women’s health care issues by raising awareness today and throughout the 21st century. The group raises funds to support treatment and research programs at City of Hope Medical Center.
