The Feminist Majority Foundation and the Rachel Carson Institute have invited experts in the field of environmental justice and women’s rights to chat with students and feminists around the globe. The first chat will take place on May 1 and will feature the co-editor of Dangerous Intersections: Feminist Perspectives on Population, Environment and Development, Professor Jael Silliman. An Assistant Professor of Women’s Studies at the University of Iowa, Silliman has examined the role of women in transforming population and environmental debates and is interested in exploring the role of women in the development of the environmental justice movement in the U.S. Professor Silliman has also explored how race and gender define the contours of organizing.
