Former US Representative Marilyn Musgrave will be the new program director of a campaign that will target pro-choice congressional incumbents in the 2010 election cycle. The program, called “Votes Have Consequences,” is part of the Susan B. Anthony List, which aims to elect anti-choice women to Congress.
Musgrave was unseated in 2008 largely as a result of a coordinated campaign by the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, which reportedly spent $1.6 million in their campaign to unseat her. According to the Coloradoan, she plans to emulate their tactics in her new position: “we have taken a good look at what works and there’s no lack of humility here when we say we know what has worked in the past and emulating that, I believe, is very appropriate.”
Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of the Susan B. Anthony List, told the Coloradoan that “we need to know that the person that we defeat has a scalp that we can hold up high and say their pro-abortion leadership is why they lost.”
