On the 30th Anniversary of the famed Houston 1977 International Women’s Year Conference, the Bella Abzug Leadership Institute (BALI), along with many other women’s rights organizations, including the Feminist Majority Foundation, will hold a major intergenerational conference for women and girls on November 10th and 11th at Hunter College in New York City.
The Freedom on Our Terms Conference is intended to “catapult the women’s rights agenda into the 21st century,” according to BALI. Gloria Steinem, Anna Quindlen, Barbara Ehrenreich, Eleanor Smeal and keynote speaker Rosie O’Donnell are all scheduled to speak and participate.
Participants in the conference will examine the 26 planks that became the original National Platform for Action in Houston, strategize to update the platform, and identify goals for the future.
