In a proposed law presented to the German parliament last Friday, homemakers will be entitled to more rights, including a portion of their spouses’ salaries.
The bill would grant homemakers, who are mostly women, the rights to know the salary of their spouse and to receive “adequate resources” for household expenses and needs. This measure is hoped to encourage a more balanced relationship and legal equity between spouses.
