More than 800 were arrested at the Republican National Convention this week. In addition to the arrest of hundreds of protesters, four journalists, including Amy Goodman of Democracy Now were arrested while covering the protests. (Watch video of Goodman’s arrest here.)
In addition to continuous protests outside of the convention site, some protesters also attended convention events. Members of the women’s activist group Code Pink protested during the speech of Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Co-founders Medea Benjamin and Jodie Evans were escorted by security after they revealed pink slips that read “Palin is not a woman’s choice” in front of the convention stage. Code Pink activists and an Iraq Veterans Against the War protester were visible during Republican Presidential nominee John McCain’s acceptance speech Thursday.
