Women leaders from around the globe are holding a summit today in New York, focusing on women”s roles in global security. The two-day “International Women Leaders Global Security Summit” will be attended by 100 women business leaders, members of government, lawmakers, diplomats and researchers.
The Summit is part of the International Women Leaders Global Security Initiative, which was launched in October 2006 by the Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands, with The White House Project, the Council of Women World Leaders and the Women Leaders Inter-cultural Forum. It will run through June 2008, and “aims to bring the perspectives and voices of global women leaders to the international discourse on security,” according to the Summit website.
