Italian Women Shouldering Unfair Burden

A new survey by Rome’s Ipsa Institute shows that Italian women are doing a disproportionate percentage of the housework, while working longer hours than any other European women. According to the study, Italian women are averaging 90 minutes of housework a day, while Italian men are averaging only 15 minutes of housework a day. In addition, Italian women are working an average 8 hours a day and cooking for half an hour. The sum of ‘busy’ time works out to 10-11 hours per day for Italian women, compared to 9-10 for German, French, Portuguese, and Spanish women. Swedish and Finish women averaged 7-8 hours per day.
