Judge Allows a Kansas Grand Jury to Investigate Planned Parenthood

A Johnson County, Kansas judge refused this week to prevent a Kansas grand jury investigation of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Overland Park, Kansas. The investigation is a result of a citizen’s petition circulated by a coalition of anti-abortion extremist groups, including Operation Rescue.

Robert Eye, an attorney for Planned Parenthood, argued that since all prior investigations have cleared of the clinic any wrongdoing, the grand jury investigation thus bordered on harassment, according to Daily Women’s Health Policy Report. He also argued that the investigation would infringe on women’s right to choose.

While the judge refused to prevent the investigation, he did change the date from December 3 to December 10, reports the Kansas City Star.
