Leadership Alliance activists across the nation have organized major events to educate and raise awareness about violence against women. Last month, many groups participated in “V-Day” a global campaign for the elimination of violence against women where feminists fundraise and organize performances of Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues on their campus. Throughout the year, our groups participate in V-Day and other events to promote work to eliminate violence against women. Earlier this month, the OGELTHORPE UNIVERSITY Leadership Alliance organized a production of the Vagina Monologues and had an audience of over 300 students for their two performances. The BROWN UNIVERSITY Leadership Alliance organized a benefit concert to raise funds for a local domestic violence shelter. The UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA Leadership Alliance organized a musical benefit to support domestic violence agencies that included performances from a diverse number of local bands. The ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY Leadership Alliance participated in a production of the Vagina Monologues which raised 5300 dollars for the cause.
