Missouri Supreme Court Nulls Law Containing Same-Sex Marriage Ban

The Missouri Supreme Court has overturned a law that contained a ban on marriage between persons of the same sex. Since Missouri’s marriage laws still define marriage as a contract between a man and a woman, marriage is still unavailable to lesbian and gay citizens there.

A buyer for a local bookstore said that gay and lesbian Missourians often hold commitment ceremonies to celebrate their partnerships. “There are countless ceremonies here in St. Louis that happen all the time,” he said.
